Welcome to WTD! Educators are the heart of this platform. With WTD, we hope you find meaningful connection, relevant learning, and a renewed inspiration. If you’re not sure where to start, here are the first steps you can take:
1. Update Your Profile
Your profile helps others on WTD get to know you and connect with your journey as an educator.
- Add your information: Include your role, school or district, and areas of interest.
- Answer icebreaker questions: A fun way to personalize your corner of WTD and for other educators to connect with you.
- Tip: If you prefer to keep some details to yourself, please utilize the privacy settings in your profile.
💡 Why This Matters: A complete profile helps you make WTD feel like your space.
2. Explore Insights in the Lounge
The Lounge is the heart of quick, actionable learning on WTD. Actions give you fresh ideas in under 30 seconds and invite you to contribute your own expertise to the community.
- What to do: Browse practical strategies from trusted providers that you can use right away.
- Save what resonates: Add your favorite Actions to your Toolkit for easy access later. You can reference your Toolkit in the tab on the Lounge or in your Profile.
- Interact with Actions: Press “like,” share you’ve “Implemented” it in your classroom, or “Contribute” to the conversation!
- Tip: Go into the Library tab to filter the Actions to find exactly what you’re looking for.
- Other Resources:
- View The Purpose of an Action article
💡 Why This Matters: Nothing changes if nothing changes. Discover new strategies and fresh perspectives that can truly alter your daily experiences.
3. Ask a Question
Sometimes the best way to learn is by asking for help. WTD gives you a space to ask the department anything that’s on your mind.
- What to ask: Anything you’d like support with—from classroom management to self-care strategies.
- Where it goes: Your question appears in the Lounge for providers and educators to respond. Turn on the privacy setting in your Profile to show only your first name and last initial instead of your full name.
- Tip:
- Save your questions to your toolkit so you can easily access them.
- View How to Ask a Question article
💡 Why This Matters: Asking questions sparks dialogue, invites collaboration, and reminds you that you’re not navigating challenges alone.
4. Register for an Experience
Experiences are immersive, action-based learning opportunities designed to fit into your busy schedule.
- What to expect: A multi-week journey that include quick videos (all under 2.5 minutes), curated Actions, and reflection questions to connect with other educators taking the Experience.
- How it works: Register for an Experience at any time. It will open for you the following Monday.
- Tip: View How to Register for an Experience article.
💡 Why This Matters: Experiences let you go deeper into topics that matter most to you, join a community of like-minded educators, and discover providers who offer the type of support you’re looking for.
5. Interact with Others
WTD is a community built for collaboration. The more you engage, the more you’ll get out of it.
- Save and share: Save helpful Provider Actions or Educator Questions to your Toolkit.
- Ask questions: Post a Question in the Lounge to tap into the collective expertise of the community.
- Join conversations: Contribute to Actions or Questions and engage with others in an Experience.
- Follow others: Click the “follow” button on Provider and Educator profiles if you want to keep up with them.
💡 Why This Matters: Interacting with others helps you find support, spark new ideas, and build connections that ripple into change in your classroom.
